General Description

Degaser products are compacted tablets in different sizes to facilitate treatment of various melt sizes. They are plunged into aluminium melts for degassing.Even under the best melting conditions, it is often impossible to prevent hydrogen gas from entering the melt which finally gives rise to porosity in the cast products. It is therefore necessary to remove as much of hydrogen from the melt as possible prior to pouring.

Degasser range of products remove the dissolved hydrogen by diffusion process. Degassing with these products is superior to flushing with chlorine gas which is associated with problems of space, equipment, corrosion, health hazards, etc. Some of the degassing products contain grain refining elements also and these products function as combined degassing and grain refining agents.

General Description

SCOT-MAG flux helps in removing non-metallic inclusions, hydrogen, sodium, calcium and lithium from molten aluminium & aluminium alloys. SCOT - MAG flux is a synthetic anhydrous carnallite (KMgCl3, K2MgCl4, K3Mg2Cl7). It is produced in both fine particle and granular form. SCOT - MAG reacts quickly and efficiently to remove sodium, lithium and calcium from molten aluminium and aluminium alloys, as well as from refractory furnace linings. Sodium levels less than 1 ppm in high Mg aluminium alloys are attainable in the casting. SCOT - MAG flux removes various nonmetallic inclusions such as oxides, carbides and borides, and enhances degassing when injected.

Application

 

SCOT – MAG flux is usually used when the major objective is alkali (Na, Li, Ca) and non – metallic inclusion removal from all types of alloys in primary smelters. USE INSTRUCTIONS : Recommended ranges for the application of SCOT-MAG flux are below. Exact requirements depend on the initial and targeted levels of inclusions, hydrogen, sodium, lithium and calcium. Shop-specific application rates are developed through experience. To remove nonmetallic inclusions, hydrogen and alkaline metals from molten aluminum in melting or holding furnaces, add between 250 grams to 1.0 kg of SCOT-MAG flux for each metric tonne of metal charge. Addition and stirring of SCOT - MAG flux by means of SCOT-Flux Injection Machine gives the highest refining efficiency.

Introduction:

SCOT-M-COTE 11 is a sprit based dressing containing a variety of fillers as per the specific requirements of the metal being cast. These inflammable dressings ensure smooth casting finish free from sand burn-on for iron, steel and non-ferrous applications.

Product Information:

Depending on the type of metal being cast, various fillers such as graphite are used in sprit based washes. After the coating is applied on the mould o core surface the sprit is flashed off. It leaves behind a layer of fillers, forming a refractory, nonwettable and nonreactive barrier between the molten metal and the mould or core surface. This ensures a good casting finish free from sand fusion, metal penetration and metal mould reaction where applicable.

Scot-M-Cote 11 range of sprit based dressings are carefully formulated to ensure a highly refactory, nonwettable and nonreactive coating layer with optimum application properties to ensure an excellent casting finish. They give consistent performance because of well controlled properties such as specific gravity, bond, viscosity, etc. Home made products often suffer for inconsistent performance because of poor formulation, improper preparation because of poor formulation, improper preparation and uneven application characteristics.

Application Instructions for use :

If you want the speed very low, you can adjust the regulator. How to calculate the speed: As we know, the 1 m coil=192g, and for example, 10 tons melting in furnace, finish melt within 1 hour, calculate the length of coil feeding per each minute. (If the application rate is 1‰) 10000kgs/60 mins=167kg/min 167kg/192g=0.87m So the length of coil feeding for each min is 0.87m then adjust the speed.
