Scot- Insural Mastic is an Asbestos Free refractory product used for joining and patching work. It can also be used for making precast shapes. This product has non-wetting, durable and insulating characteristics, making it the most commonly used refractory product for any foundry handling molten Aluminium. ADVANTAGES: 1. Used for Launder Lining Repair, Billet casting patching, heat treatment furnace lining, feeder or hot top, ladles, scoop and any part contract with molten metal. 2. Very low shrinkage 3. Good bonding strength, reduces the risk of erosion on repaired joints. 4. Non-wetting by molten Aluminium / Zinc 5. No Impurity added to molten metal. 6. Easy and cost effective solution for repairing refractory products. 7. Reduces fall in temp. of molten metal. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: 1. Clean the area that needs to be repaired / coated with a wet cloth. 2. Apply Scot-Insural Mastic with a brush or hand. 3. Make Scot-Insural Mastic layer as smooth as possible. 4. Leave for drying for 4-5 hours or 1-2 hours using a heat gun to remove moisture.5. Once dry, excess Scot-Insural mastic can be lightly sanded smooth 6. Preheat to 80-100 Degree C to increase life of coating.

General Description

The most commonly used furnace in the secondary aluminium industry is the rotary furnace where aluminium scrap is melted under a layer of salt which consists of a mixture of chlorides and cryolites. There are various possible combinations of this salt flux. However after several trials and customers feedbacks, Flux 475 has proved to be the best combination for Aluminium melting in Rotary furnace.

Application

 

ADVANTAGES: 1. Flux 475 enhances the heat transfer to the metal. 2. It prevents the oxidation of the metal. 3. The salt takes up contaminants, such as oxides, carbides and others contained in the scrap or produced by reactions during the melting process. 4. Homogenous mixture for the alloy is achieved. 5. Helps in cleaning, covering as well as drossing of molten aluminium. APPLICATION PROCESS: The amount of salt used for the melting process depends on the scrap characteristics and varies in a range of 5-8% of the aluminium scrap charge. First, the salt is melted down in the rotary furnace. Next the scrap is charged into the salt bath. After the metal is molten it is tapped and the salt slag is cast into steel moulds where it cools down. The advantage of the rotary furnace is that even highly contaminated scrap can be handled.

Scot- Plumbral 2 provides a cover during melting of high lead bronze. This flux is used to prevent oxidation loss during melting. The plunging of Scot- Plumbral flux before pouring scavenges the melt, removing impurities and assisting in the dispersion of the lead phase..

 

ApplicationInstructions for use :

In crucible melting 0.5% is added about 5 minutes before deoxidising the melt. Before pouring, the fluid slag formed is skimmed off, thickening it with dry silica sand if necessary..

In Tilting, rotary or reverbratory furnaces, 0.5% of Scot- Plumbral flux is added when the charge begins to melt. A further 0.5% is placed at the bottom of the preheat ladle, along with deoxidants, and the metal tapped onto them. Before poring the slag may be thickened with a coagulant to form a crust and the metal poured from beneath it.

5% Strontium + Al ALSR 5% ALLOY General Description Scot-Modalloy-Strontium stick (tablet) is an excellent modifying agent for aluminium and its alloys. It is used to refine the grains of silicon in the alloy, improve the mechanical capacity of the alloy and provide stability in re-melting. The purpose of modifying eutectic and hypoeutectic Al-Si alloys is to change the acicular form of silicon to spheroids or globular form results in improved mechanical properties.

Instructions for use :
1. Prepare the required alloy composition. Follow the normal fluxing and cleaning procedure as recommended.
2. Degas the melt with tablet degaser or by mobile degassing unit and dross off by using small quantity of coverflux.
3. After the degassing operation, add Scot-Alti5B1 grain refiner at an application rate of 0.20 to 0.40 by weight at temperature between 700-750 Deg C.
4. Add Scot-Modalloy-Strontium at an application rate of 0.20 - 0.40 at a temperature between 700 to 750 deg C.
5. Rabble the melt to ensure homogeneity, wait for 5 to 10 min. then use.
